BILLY BRAGG TO BERNS
Billy Bragg gets older and the songs get more angry, with every minute of universal injustice that is plowing our earth. A song may not change the world it can change you – it’s the individual that needs to be touched, which is a motto Bragg has practiced throughout his thirty-year career.
With a tinned guitar in one hand and the other fist clenched in the air, Bragg has given us several heartwarming punk folk songs to sing along to. From the smoky pubs of late seventies England and on to all corners of the earth, he has pumped up the steam with songs like “A New England” and “Sexuality”. Along with Wilco, music found by Woody Guthrie’s daughter can be written. This collaboration led to two albums that were widely praised.
Bragg has had a great influence both politically and musically on generations of musicians. His relevance and the timelessness of his music mean that new fans are constantly being added. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the debut album Life’s a Riot, which of course must be celebrated with a series of concerts. It is with great joy and anticipation that we welcome this icon to Stockholm!
