Drive-by Truckers, based in Athens, Georgia, was formed by friends Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley in 1996, and has been releasing high-octane alto albums since 1998. country / sydstats rock. When the new album ‘The Unraveling’ was released in early 2020, it was a full 3.5 years after its predecessor ‘American Band’ (2016), a break between releases that was the band’s longest so far. Truckers’ constant touring and solid catalog of critically acclaimed albums has made them one of the real heavyweights on the Americana scene.
Politics has always played a central role in the band’s music, but where ‘American Band’ can be seen more as an early warning of an impending storm, ‘The Unraveling’ can be more likened to a highly personal view of the current chaos in today’s United States. When the pandemic put an end to all live music, it resulted – for Drive-by Truckers – in another album, ‘The New OK’, already in the autumn of 2020. ‘The New OK’ is a kind of companion album to ‘The Unraveling’ ‘, who continues to comment and report on the tumultuous year that has polarized the band’s homeland.
After the last two years’ concerts at Sthlm Americana have been canceled due to the pandemic, we are now extremely happy to instead present Drive-by Truckers at Berns on May 26, 2022. Tickets are out now!
