When prestigious publications such as Pitchfork, Uncut, Guardian and NPR would summarize the musical year of 2019, they all agreed: Weye’s Blood ‘Titanic Rising’ was one of the very best and most important records of the year. Thoughtful, orchestral and intricate, Weyes Blood managed to portray a coming apocalypse with a calm that both frightened and comforted. The artist herself has described her music as “Bob Seger meets Enya” and perhaps she is referring to the unique way she manages to balance the cosmic with the irresistible melodic.

Although it was with ‘Titanic Rising’ that Weyes Blood had a major breakthrough, at the time she was anything but a debutante. She has been playing guitar since the age of eight and spent the late 2000s in the underground noise scene before releasing her solo debut ‘The Outside Room’ in 2011. Since then there have been two more albums, not least the fantastic ‘Front Row Seat to Earth’ from 2016 and now the time has come for the long-awaited new album ‘And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow’ which will be released on November 18. An album where the enigmatic Weyes Blood finds itself seeking strategies for living in the doom rather than fearing it.

On the 30th January, Weyes Blood returns to Sweden for a concert at Berns in Stockholm.
